Refund & Returns Policy
Refund & Returns Policy
We want you to be happy with your purchase from Edith York. This policy explains your legal rights and the voluntary return period we offer. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
This policy was last updated in August 2026.
Our voluntary 30-day return period
In addition to your legal rights, we voluntarily offer a 30-day return period from the date you receive your order. To be eligible for a voluntary return, items must be:
- unused and unworn;
- returned with all original tags attached;
- in their original packaging;
- in a resaleable condition.
For reasons of hygiene and safety, certain items cannot be returned under our voluntary policy once opened or unsealed, including underwear and pierced jewellery, as well as personalised or made-to-order items. This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty.
Faulty items are not subject to the conditions above — see "Faulty items" below.
Your legal right to cancel — 14-day cooling-off period
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving any reason. This is separate from, and in addition to, our voluntary 30-day return period.
To exercise your right to cancel, notify us within the 14-day period by emailing info@edithyork.uk. After cancelling, you must return the goods to us within 14 days. We will refund the full price of the goods together with the standard delivery cost you originally paid. Where you chose a more expensive delivery option, we refund only the cost of our standard delivery. Refunds are made within 14 days of us receiving the goods back, or from the day you provide proof that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier.
Faulty items — Consumer Rights Act 2015
If an item is faulty, not as described or unfit for purpose, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that are not affected by the conditions of our voluntary policy. These may include:
- the short-term right to reject the goods and receive a full refund, normally within 30 days of receipt;
- repair or replacement of the goods;
- a price reduction or the final right to reject, where a repair or replacement is unsuccessful.
These statutory rights cannot be excluded or limited.
How to return an item
Before returning anything, please contact us at info@edithyork.uk and we will provide return instructions. Please include your order number so we can process your return quickly.
Who pays for return postage
- Voluntary returns and cancellations: you are responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us, unless we tell you otherwise.
- Faulty, damaged or incorrect items: we will cover the cost of return postage. Please keep proof of postage.
Refund method and timescale
Refunds are issued in pounds sterling (GBP, £) to the original payment method — your PayPal account or the card used for the purchase. Once your return is approved, we will process your refund promptly, within the timescales set out above. The time it takes for the refunded amount to appear in your account depends on your payment provider.
