Copper Earrings

There is something quiet about these earrings that I did not plan; it simply evolved from the copper.

I hand-cut every groove along the plane of the circle, one diagonal after another, allowing the polished line to catch the light against the matte background. The contrast has always been the essence, something a little wild within the round and uniform interior.

Those who wear copper close to their skin tend to notice things. There is a softness somewhere. A stability that they cannot quite name. I have heard it so many times that it no longer surprises me.
